
From Brazil, the Banda de Musica da Policia Militar do Estado do Espirito Santo will arouse Montreal with their rhythms of Samba and Frevo
Quebec City, Monday June 2nd, 2010 - On August 20th and 21st 2010, the Banda de Musica da Policia Militar do Estado do Espirito Santo (The Military Police Band of Espirito Santo) will illuminate Montreal with their first appearance in North America. The 105 musicians and choristers will share the scene with the popular singer Elba Ramalho. The festival-goers will have the chance to see the energetic formation in Old Montreal and at Place des Arts.
An electrifying presence…
Invited by the Quebec City International Festival of Military Bands (QCIFMB), the Brazilian Band is marked by its musicians’ expressivity and by its Jazz Band that integrates the orchestra. The band will be accompanied by the popular Brazilian signer Elba Ramalho. Singer, songwriter and performer, she mixes a diversity of Brazilian’s rhythms, creating a dynamic and entrancing musical genre. She is a figurehead of the contemporary Brazilian music. On stage with the Military Police Band of Espirito Santo, she will undoubtedly inflame the audience.
First act at the Théâtre Maisonneuve
The Brazilian Band will assume the first part of the Russian Cossack State Dance Company at the Théâtre Maisonneuve of the Place des Arts. In addition to traditional military marches, the Troupe inserts in their musical programs rhythms of Samba and Frevo, a carnival musical genre from Brazil. Free Concerts in Old Montreal
Old Montreal will also be taken by storm by more than 200 musicians Saturday August 21st at 2PM. Among these musicians, the Brazilian formation will be part of the celebration. Open to public, this free event will be a crescendo concert type with a gradual arrival of musicians from Brazil, Canada and Russia. To conclude this concert, musicals pieces will be interpreted by all the participating musicians, all for an hour presentation. A delight for the eyes and the ears! In case of rain, the even will be postponed to Sunday August 22, at 2PM.
In Quebec City for the QCIFMB
After its stop to Montreal, the Military Police Band of Espirito Santo will spend the week in Quebec for the QCIFMB.
