Music lovers, the curious, the young and the old are invited

to the 2010 QCIFMB


Québec City, July 6, 2010- The Québec City International Festival of Military Bands will animate Québec City from August 24 to 29. With 7 participating countries and nearly 40 rich and varied representations, the 2010 edition will completely fulfill music lovers, the curious, the young and the old.

Seven countries, and for the first time Italy and Brazil
From Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Russia and the United States-- more than 800 musicians and participants will be present during the 6 days of festivities. For its 12th edition, the Festival is proud to welcome for the first time the military bands of Italy and Brazil. The Bersaglieri Band of Bedizzole is renowned for being in top physical condition. The musicians play music while running! The Military Police Band of Espirito Santo integrates rhythms of samba and “frevo” into its musical program.

Free and outdoor: 34 concerts and events
From the Welcoming Ceremony to the Family Days to the Outdoor Popular Concerts, there are more than 34 free concerts and events offered by the QCIFMB. It is a unique opportunity to discover  military music in the outdoors--absolutely free!

Two Grand Concerts
During the Grand Concerts, August 24 and 25 (8 P.M.), the public will be able to discover the richness of military music and especially the immense talent of the musicians who compose these orchestras. August 24 at the Grand Théâtre de Québec: for the first time in Québec City, the Russian Cossack State Dance Company will perform with a troop of dancers, choristers and musicians. The evening opens with the Military Police Band of Espirito Santo and the Music of the Royal 22e Régiment. August 25 at the Palais Montcalm: Elite military bands from France and Germany--a great opportunity to discover these top military music musicians.

This year, it is with the theme Experience that Réjean Blais (musical director) and Olivier Dufour (artistic director) have created this show. All the bands will get together three nights, August 26, 27 and 28  (7 P.M.), at the Pepsi Coliseum for a remarkable evening of entertainment featuring 800 musicians and participants for a stunning mixture of music and spectacular choreographies.
